Elbert Steyn’s Guiding Hand in Bjorn Ironside & Master Casper’s Strong Showings

Bjorn Ironside and Master Casper, finished 3rd and 5th in their respective debut race. Their performances, filled with determination and glimpses of growing technique, greatly impressed those watching. The race was finely matched, challenging the young horses and pushing them to move faster and make smarter decisions. Both Bjorn Ironside – Aldo Domeyer and Master Casper – Craig Zackey did not disappoint.

Behind their impressive performance lies the able steerage of Elbert Steyn, who heads our Cape Town yard. With his wide-ranging experience stemming from his time in Saudi Arabia and years of work with veteran trainer Piet Steyn, Elbert has been instrumental in honing these young colts.

This performance by our two-year-olds has made us all enthusiastic about the potential that lies ahead in Cape Racing. With the right training and the right ambience, we believe that our horses will continue to surprise us with their talent and tenacity. They are both aimed at the Cape Racing Slipper R1,2.5 million race on the WSB Cape Town Met day on 27 January 2024.

Stay tuned for more updates on our journey with these young horses and their ever-evolving skills. Exciting times are ahead!
