Presley and Mizzen Sail Seal Their First Career Wins

In a somewhat bittersweet day at the races, two of our 3-year-olds took home their first-ever career victories for our team, after relatively longer periods of anticipation.

Race 1 witnessed PRESLEY, the progeny of Oratorio and Charisma, secure his first career win in his fourth start. Despite the delayed success, the team behind him – owners Messrs J F & L M F Wernars & J Vermaak, breeder Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, and jockey Gavin Lerena – wore expressions of relief mingled with joy, albeit tinged with the realization of the horse’s late blooming.

The narrative of a delayed career win was repeated in Race 2 as well. MIZZEN SAIL, offspring of Erupt and Mizzen Mist, finally notched up an impressive victory, leading with 6.50 lengths. The horse’s owner, Varsfontein Stud, breeder Lammerskraal Stud, and jockey Diego De Gouveia sighed collectively in relief, their persistent faith in Mizzen Sail finally rewarded.

Sure, these maiden victories were more a lesson in endurance and perseverance, rather than exciting shocks of early successes. However, they reflected the quintessential narrative of horseracing: a mixture of patience, hope, and untiring dedication.

An unexpected turn of events unfolded in the 8th race, the TAB 4RACING APP MIDDLE STAKES. Our highly anticipated favorite, MOONSHININGTHROUGH, got scratched from the race in an unfortunate twist. The race experienced a false start which then led to the horse bolting. This unexpected outburst resulted in the horse getting scratched from the race, leaving the audience and team equally surprised and disappointed. This incident reminds us that unpredictability is an integral part of the racing industry.

Adding to the spectrum of results, KARANGETANG turned many heads with a notably improved performance to finish fifth. While not landing in the place or winner’s circle, it was apparent to keen observers that Karangetang’s form is on the upswing.

Rounding up the day’s events was MYTHICAL DREAM in the last race finishing 4th. Stay tuned for more updates from our stable!

As we embrace the Xmas week, we’d like to take a moment to express our gratitude to our horse racing family. Your support and enthusiasm throughout the year have been the backbone of our success. Here’s hoping this festive season brings joy, love, and happiness to you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas to all! May we cross many more finish lines together in the coming weeks!
