We couldn’t be more thrilled with BARBARESCO’s deserving win on race day at Turffontein. From the very beginning, we’ve known BARBARESCO is a special horse, homebred from the former stable star mare NEGROAMARO. The decision to geld him after his third start was a sad one, but a necessary sacrifice to meet our long-term aspirations.

One of our key strategies with BARBARESCO has been not rushing him into the major races. The severe schedules of some of his comebacks meant he’d be too close to the big events, and we didn’t want to compromise on his recovery.

Gazing into the future, we are convinced it shines bright for him. A nod of gratitude goes to co-owners Laurence and Rikesh, whose significant investments in the past two years have borne fruit. Special mention to Gavin and Hennie for fostering the steady stream of gutsy performances in training. BARBARESCO’s story is just beginning, and we expect many more triumphant chapters in his journey.

We cannot thank our exceptional team enough, all our other carded runners on the day ran for minor stakes. It’s their hard work and dedication behind the scenes that fuels our horses’ performances.

A special mention goes to the remarkable first timer CYMRIC for finishing a strong 2nd place, a young colt we procured for a whopping R1.2 Million at NYS23. Despite his tender age, he raced admirably. Bred by distinguished breeders Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, and owned by our trusted partners Messrs J F, L M F Wernars & R M Sewgoolam.

We truly believe we are on an exciting trajectory. All credit goes to the exceptional team, and we eagerly look forward to the promising journey ahead in the racing season.
