Exciting Start to April! 600 Career Wins Milestone

An incredible first two weeks of April not only saw us come home with six winners but also reach an incredible milestone of 600 career wins for the stable. It started off on the 1st of April in Durban Scottsville. CHIEFTAIN brings success on his second outing! This promising 2-year-old colt, bred by Drakenstein Stud, came with a price tag of R1,700,000 (National Yearling Sale 2023). Adding another R100K Bloodstock South Africa bonus. A celebration well deserved!

And then we moved on to Saturday 6th April which was the big World Pool Champions Day in the Highveld. SO SEDUCTIVE charmed her way to victory in the first race the MASTER ARCHIE AT STUD MAIDEN PLATE. Big applause to jockey Gavin Lerena for the top-notch ride and well done to the breeders Klawervlei Stud & Mr D G Abery. The World Pool Champions Day was indeed So Seductive!

Continuing on with a double at the Vaal Classic on Tuesday 9th April with two super well-bred horses. Race 1: CYMRIC bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein Sire: Vercingetorix Dam: Savannah Cat by Fort Wood (USA) wins comfortably, also securing another R100K BSA bonus. Remarkably, three of these four winners already mentioned were by Main Chance Farms stallion Vercingetorix and also notably the partnership of Messrs J F & L M F Wernars & R M Sewgoolam, and Lerena produced three of the winners. Well done team!

Then on Saturday 13th April Turffontein Standside. BINGWA (Pathfork x Marauding Lady), ridden by the skilled Kabelo Matsunyane, kicked off the day for us with an impressive comeback run in race 5. This course veteran now has a record of 6 wins and 14 places from 39 starts with total stakes of R1,598,475 and shows no signs of slowing down. Huge congratulations to Bingwa’s owners and breeders, Mr. & Mrs. C R Stonebridge!

Huge congratulations to Messrs J F & L M Wernars and Jagessar Limited, who co-own Cosmic Star alongside Maine Chance Farms, who also bred this star!

Celebrating our 600th career win – a journey of dedication, tough moments, and determined teamwork. From our humble start in November 2012 to today, every race has been a story of perseverance and passion. Thank you to all the owners who have been part of this incredible journey! Here’s to many more victories!

From here onwards we’re now gonna have a 10-day break from racing, to catch up with some of the much needed lost work from all the rain we’ve had over the last two weeks, also this break will give us a good time to focus on the National Yearling Sales coming up this week on Thursday 18 April & Friday 19th April 2024 – 10H00 at TBA Sales Complex, Germiston, Johannesburg. We will be working hard to try and find some more stock to keep us going for the next couple of years.
