A Day for Charity, Horse Racing, and Community

The Allied Steelrode On A Mission Charity Mile is upon us. Apart from witnessing top notch races and cheering for our favorite horses, this annual event aims to make a positive impact on our societies. With the stakes raised to an impressive R1,000,000 this year, the anticipation surrounding this race day is higher than ever.

On Friday, October 20, the barrier draw took place, determining the starting positions for the 16 horses competing in the Allied Steelrode On A Mission Charity Mile 1600m (Grade 2). This momentous event paves the way for the race day on 28th October, adding to the excitement that mounts each passing day.

The increase in stakes from last year’s R800,000 to R1,000,000 reflects the undying commitment of the Allied Steelrode & 4Racing to making a lasting difference.

Our very own 2022 winner, the defending champion Bingwa – S’Manga Khumalo (58.5 kg), will be representing the Legacy Children’s Home this year. Bingwa’s previous triumphs have not only brought glory to the racing stable but have also contributed to the betterment of the lives of the children at Epworth Children’s Home. This noble partnership demonstrates the power of horse racing to generate positive change and inspire others to support important causes.

Alongside Bingwa, is our 2022 Betway Summer Cup winner Puerto Manzano who ran a cracking 2nd in the 2022 Charity Mile. Puerto Manzano – Gavin Lerena (58.5 kg) races for the SARDA Centre, an organization that provides therapeutic horse riding programs for individuals with disabilities. This partnership emphasizes the strong connection between horses and healing, bringing joy and support to individuals who need it the most.

This annual event serves as a reminder of the significance of coming together for a greater purpose. Horse racing enthusiasts and supporters of worthy causes unite, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement, hope, and the shared goal of making a difference. The Allied Steelrode On A Mission Charity Mile not only donate funds but also raises awareness about various causes, amplifying their reach and impact within the communities.

The Allied Steelrode On A Mission Charity Mile is much more than just a horse racing event. It exemplifies the strength of collaboration and the power of sports in creating social change. As we eagerly await race day, let us remember the incredible work being done by the beneficiary charities and support them in any way possible. May this year’s event be a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on both the racing world and the lives of those in need.

We would also like to take a moment to wish the Springboks the best of luck in their final against the All Blacks, taking place on the same day, 28th October. Let’s all come together to support our national team and celebrate their achievements.
