Another Top-10 Finish in the Books – 2023/2024 Season Success

As the 2023-2024 season comes to an end, we take a moment to reflect on what has truly been another incredible year for our stable. With a total of 413 runs, 68 wins, and 226 places, we are proud to report outstanding statistics: a win percentage of 16.46% and a place percentage of 54.72%. This season has resulted in a total stake won of R8,555,763, and we have achieved the highest combined win-place percentage in South Africa for the season, with an impressive +R20,000 earning per start. It’s safe to say we’ve achieved something remarkable, marking another successful chapter in our journey.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We must extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who was involved in making this season a success. Our clients the backbone of our stable deserve recognition for their unwavering support. Our incredible staff, who work tirelessly behind the scenes, have shown exceptional commitment and professionalism. A big thank you goes out to our dedicated grooms, vets, farriers, work-riders, and everyone else who contributed to our impressive number of winners this year. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed.

Celebrating Milestones: Laurence Wernars

A standout highlight of this season is the extraordinary achievement of Laurence Wernars. For the first time, he has reached the milestone of 100 winners in a single season. Laurence has been a dedicated supporter of our yard since its inception 12 years ago, and we are thrilled to have played a significant role in his journey. Congratulations to Laurence! Being a part of his success is both an honour and a privilege, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.

Congratulations to Justin Snaith

We would also like to extend our congratulations to trainer Justin Snaith for his back-to-back wins of the National Trainers Championship. A respected figure in the racing community, his accomplishments are a testament to his team hard work and dedication. Having maintained a strong professional relationship with him over the years, we acknowledge the impact of his contributions to the sport and look forward to future collaborations.

A Toast to Richard Fourie

Another congratulatory note goes out to jockey Richard Fourie for his phenomenal performance this season. This is the first time that Richard has won the South African jockeys title, setting a new record with 377 wins and breaking the previous record of 335 wins set by Anthony Delpech in the 1998/99 season. This remarkable achievement will go down as one of the great feats in South African racing history. Here’s to many more winning seasons ahead!

Last but not least, we also want to congratulate our stable jockey, Gavin Lerena, for finishing 3rd on the national log and Champion jockey on the Highveld. His hard work and dedication have been invaluable to our success this season.

With immense gratitude, we turn our attention to the key players who have tirelessly worked to sustain and elevate our industry. We would like to say a big thank you to all the big players who have kept our industry alive, and as we begin the new season, we wish them all the best and thank them for their continued support. To everyone else in the industry, including the punters, breeders, The National Horseracing Authority, Racing Association, 4Racing, Gold Circle, Cape Racing, BloodStock South Africa, Cape Racing Sales, Hollywoodbets, Betway, World Sports Betting, Sporting Post, Turf Talk, and many more, our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication and contributions to the vibrant world of South African horse racing.
