BARBARESCO BRILLIANCE

In a thrilling display of speed, BARBARESCO, the remarkable son of GIMMETHEGREENLIGHT (AUS) / NEGROAMARO by FORT WOOD (USA), sprinted his way to victory with an awe-inspiring performance in the PINNACLE STAKES 1160m. This grey sensation carried a hefty 62kg yet defied the odds, showcasing the true prowess of a quality horse.

From last to first, BARBARESCO’s breathtaking surge down the inside was a sight to behold. Guided by the skilled hands of jockey Gavin Lerena, he clinched a grandstand finish, proving once again that exceptional horses transcend typical distance constraints. His triumph has surely reignited the belief that quality horses can excel in sprints, a notion often overlooked.

Gavin’s strategy to ride BARBARESCO cold, patiently waiting to make his move, paid off spectacularly. The horse responded magnificently, and Gavin’s confidence and meticulous planning were rewarded in full measure. As the pair maneuvered between the 200m and 100m marks, a quiet smile must have spread across Gavin’s face, knowing victory was within reach.

Our team couldn’t have been prouder, having cherished BARBARESCO from the start since his days as a juvenile, and we’re delighted to see him settle that 1160m score with style. As the brother to the rising star SALENIO PENINSULA and a member of a distinguished lineage, BARBARESCO was always destined for greatness. With fond memories of his dam, NEGROAMARO, who was among the stable’s first group horses, this win brings a lot of joy.

Thanks to the steadfast support of Laurence Wernars, Rikesh Sewgoolam, and their families. We plan to run in a 1400m PINN on 1 FEB and then target the prestigious Gr1 Horse Chestnut, there’s much excitement ahead.
