Double Birthday Joy for our stable Backbone

There are many ways to celebrate a birthday, but perhaps none quite as special as seeing your horses win at the racecourse. This was the exact sentiment for Mr Wernars, pillar of our stable, as he celebrated his special day with not one but two significant wins at the Turffontein Racecourse!

Our first win came in Race 3, where PRESLEY, a stellar son of Oratorio and Charisma, surged to his third career win. We owe much of this win to jockey Gavin Lerena, whose stellar guidance ensured PRESLEY’s victory. Kudos must also go to the masterminds behind PRESLEY’s breeding, a good friend Pippa Mickleburgh at Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, and the winning team owners, Messrs J F & L M F Wernars and J Vermaak.

Fast forward to Race 8, and we had another reason to raise the champagne: COSMIC STAR clinched career win number four. This Erupt and Cosmic Light prodigy once again proved the old adage: hard work and determination always pay off. Lerena, again in the saddle, guided the horse to the finish line. Congratulations to the power team Messrs J F & L M F Wernars, and Maine Chance Farm (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Dr W A & Mrs N Jacobs) who also bred.
