GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE

On a very dry and dusty afternoon, Royal Ascot 2024: Day 3, we sent out six runners to compete. We began the day with SHE’S A BOMBER in Race 1, a beautiful and well-bred filly by Lancaster Bomber. She is owned by Rikesh Sewgoolam, a name that has now become very well-known in the yard, he is in partnership with Mr Chung, a newcomer to our team.

This filly has shown superb progress over the past few weeks, and we were hopeful for a debut victory. Our only concern was her greenness at home, which was evident in her performance. Despite being extremely green, the 2YO filly managed to cross the finish line first, thanks to a fantastic ride by Gavin Lerena. Gavin’s experience kept her focused throughout the race, ensuring she didn’t fall too far behind.

In Race 3, Rainbow Reward (61 kg) was unluckily beaten, being intimidated with over the last 100m. We raised an objection in the boardroom and sadly the Stipendiary Stewards didn’t see it the same way as we did, the objection was overruled, and the results stood. Despite this, we were pleased with another good performance, securing second and third place with Fostinovo for the Wernars family.

Another highlight of the day was the win by JASIRI, owned and bred by the passionate Stonebridge family. JASIRI, sired by Canford Cliffs (IRE) and out of Marauding Lady (ZIM) by Century Stand (AUS), is a half-sister to Bingwa. She came from quite far back in a very fast 1000m race to take the lead in the last hundred meters, giving us a double. True to her Swahili name, which means ‘brave,’. Our runner’s performances was nothing short of courageous. Well done team!
